Get a glimpse into the 1920's with singers Deborah Rocha and Ken Batts, monologists Libby Frank and Liz Appleby, narrator David Ingle and Hopkinton's own poet Cheryl Perreault. This group of respected performers will take you through story and song and into the lives of four remarkable historical figures. Dorothy Parker, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Fanny Brice and evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson "invented" themselves in an era of great creativity in the arts and great exuberance in our post World War I nation. Women were seeking liberation on all fronts, defying laws and pursuing new forms of pleasure...
In this performance, Libby Frank enacts a Dorothy Parker story set in her favorite speakeasy, David Engle introduces hip-hop joints and Deborah Rocha performs Cab Calloway's Minnie the Moocher. Don't miss what should be a wild evening of quirky cabaret, right here in Hopkinton!
Want a taste of the performance? HopNews.com has video of Libby Franck performing as Dorothy Parker. Click here to view. Caution: Dorothy Parker's sense of humor is somewhat on the blue side.
